The Government of Canada has issued 3,350 invitations to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence to candidates in the Express Entry system in a draw held on February 20.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has even issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates with scores as low as 457.
A total of 14,500 ITAs have been issued by IRCC in 2019, which marks the biggest start of the year since the introduction of Express Entry System in 2015.
With 14,500 ITAs, the recent draw shows an increase of 70 percent – over the number issued in 2018 in the same juncture – a year that saw IRCC set the current Express Entry ITA record of 89,800.
IRCC has applied the tie-break rule. Actually, the time published for conducting this draw was December 6, 2018, at 12:38:11 UTC. This means that all the candidates with CRS (Comprehensive Ranking system) score 457 or above, who submitted their profile in the Express Entry pool before this time received an ITA in the latest February 20 draw.
The Express Entry system manages the pool of Canadian immigration candidates for three of the country’s economic immigration programs – the Federal Skilled Trades Class, Federal Skilled Worker Class, and Canadian Experience Class.
Invitations are issued on the basis of the CRS score of candidates, which is actually based on factors like education, age, skilled work experience, and proficiency in French or English.
The Express Entry candidates who received an ITA have 60 days from the date of receipt to submit their complete PR application to the Government of Canada.
